LifeSpring just completed an activity-filled weekend with Matt Wolf of Joliet, Illinois. LifeSpringers had several opportunities to rub elbows with Matt, find out how he fits the LSC ethos, and whether there is a connection between him and us.
LifeSpring is now starting to think about the future, expanded reach and mission, and dividing the responsibilities Bruce has with another staff member, as well as moving toward a very reduced role for Bruce. We have known for a long time that with only one staff member there are limited skills, insights, and energies available for our work. Matt and Bruce are decidedly different, and with that comes enhancement of approaches.
Using 1 Corinthians and Ephesians as a foundation, Alan Hirsch has identified five global skills or orientations to church leadership and mission. These are identified in the acronym APEST: apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers.
Churches that understand the importance of these five roles know the potential that they release within a church. LifeSpring could potentially dramatically increase her potential by the addition of Matt Wolf to our “staff.”
Bruce would like to see the addition of the “right” person for our work, “right” meaning right skills, right strategy, and right relationship in regard to LifeSpring. Therefore, here are some things you can do to facilitate this process:
- Definitely pray for LifeSpringers to have wisdom in making this decision.
- Be present in the life of our family. Absence removes you, your talents, your help, your resources, and your wisdom from our church family. We need YOU.
- Pray for opportunities to spread the story of LifeSpring to your friends who may find that to be desirable.
- Complete the Matt Visit questionnaire in this week’s Currents.
We will keep you apprised as things develop. Please pray.
