Mexican Hat is a wonderful church social kind of food. Contributions to the menu are mostly just ingredients you can buy off the shelf at the grocery store. But when they are assembled they are really delicious. Here’s the recipe for the dish.
Ingredients for Mexican Hat:
Tortilla chips 2-3 bags
Cooked rice -1 big pan
Chili beans ( or black beans) – 1 big pan
Ground beef seasoned with McCormick (or similar) Taco seasoning packets, 6 cups.
Chopped onions – 2-3 cups.
Shredded lettuce – 4-6 cups.
Chopped tomatoes – 3-4 cups
Sliced black olives – 2 cups.
Shredded cheddar – 2 big bags.
Salsa – mild 2 big jars.
Salsa – medium 1 big jar.
Shredded coconut – 2 bags.
Chopped pecans – 2 bags.
(Chopped avocado – optional)
