Paul told the Thessalonian church to “pray without ceasing.” In other words, he was instructing them to be prayerful in their consciousness. It does not mean to be constantly praying. It would not be possible to carry on a conversation or listen attentively to another. Praying without ceasing is an awareness of God’s nearness and living in light of that intimacy.
